A case of rabies disease was from Nsuontem in Afigya Kwabre North was detected at St. Patrick’s Hospital in February 2026. This was a child of 3 years old who died.
The District PHEMC and the Assembly supported the District Health Directorate and Veterinary Officers and carried out Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) activities in all communities. The following activities have been carried out:
1. Sensitization of health facility in charges, surveillance focal persons and District Public Health Emergency Management Committee (PHEMC) on rabies disease.
2. Public education through community information centres, health facilities, radio discussion on FISH FM.
3. Anti-rabies vaccine and logistics were provided and carried out vaccination of dogs in communities. This is ongoing and encouraging dog owners to ensure that all dogs are vaccinated against rabies disease.
4. Suspected case isolation and holding rooms have been set up for case management at all health facilities.
Birth and Death Unit is responsible for issuing of Birth and Death certificate to individuals within and outside the District.

Zoomlion Ghana Limited is in charge of managing solid waste at all public places in the District
Establishment of Schools and allocation of Funds to Persons with Disability in the District.
Any individual or registered entity/organization wishing to operate a business within the District should operate under approved licence by the Assembly.
Land Allocation and Demarcation. Providing Building Permit to qualified applicant within the District.
